Hackbridge JumpStart

What is Hackbridge JumpStart?

Hackbridge JumpStart is a hub for the development of students’ self-initiated projects.

Students get to work on a project based on their own ideas, not others. JumpStart aspires to be the first port-of-call when students from the University of Cambridge have an ambition to turn their ideas into reality. We provide support for students who wish to start their own company, in the form of mentorship, workshops, and exit plans.

We accept JumpStart members on a rolling basis throughout the term, with two mass intakes during the start of Michaelmas and Lent term.

Our current intake for Michaelmas 2020 is now open!

The JumpStart workflow

The JumpStart programme is split into 4 key stages

1. Team Formation
Sign-up for the JumpStart programme through our form and meet other JumpStart members for the first time at our 2 flagship workshops. This is where you get to meet your co-founders - ideally members who share similar interests as you, yet have complementary skillsets - and form your teams.

2. Ideation
Brainstorm ideas for your personal venture. Receive support in the form of workshops conducted by the Hackbridge JumpStart committee (hosted in conjunction with our Hackbridge partners); these are meant to catalyse ideation by providing a framework for the further development of your very own ideas.

3. Development
Work on developing your ideas further; this includes writing a business plan, preparing a pitch deck and possibly even developing a Minimal Viable Product (MVP). This may also involve iterating your initial idea to ensure Product Market Fit.
You will get all the support you need in the form of mentorships from our commercial partners as well as comprehensive support - in the form of check-ins - from the Hackbridge committee.

4. Incubation
Once your idea has grown substantially, you can now consider exits in the form of other incubator and accelerator programmes, or even raising seed funding! Hackbridge JumpStart will provide all the support you need to get there.
